Mattress Options
Therapeutic Foam Mattresses
High-density therapeutic foam mattresses provide excellent pressure distribution and come in various firmness levels. They’re a solid choice for most patients and are included as the standard mattress with many of our bed rentals.
Gel Mattress Overlays
Gel overlays add a cooling, pressure-redistributing layer on top of an existing mattress. They’re ideal for patients who run warm or who need moderate pressure relief without replacing their entire mattress.
Innerspring Hospital Mattresses
Traditional innerspring mattresses offer firm, familiar support. They’re durable, breathable, and preferred by patients who find foam mattresses too soft.
Alternating Pressure Mattress Systems
For patients at risk of pressure ulcers (bedsores), alternating pressure mattress systems are the gold standard. Read our alternating pressure mattress guide for a detailed look at how they work. These systems use an electric pump to cyclically inflate and deflate air cells, continuously redistributing pressure across the patient’s body. This prevents any single pressure point from bearing weight for too long -the primary cause of bedsores.
Our alternating pressure systems include:
- Electric pump unit with adjustable pressure settings
- Replacement air cells in multi-zone configurations
- Low-air-loss features for moisture management
- Alarm systems that alert if pressure drops below safe levels
Accessories
Overbed Tables
Adjustable overbed tables position a flat surface over the bed for meals, reading, using a laptop, or playing cards. The table height adjusts and the top tilts for comfortable use in any bed position.
Trapeze Bars
Overhead trapeze bars give patients a handle to grip for repositioning themselves in bed, sitting up, and assisting with transfers. They significantly increase patient independence and reduce the physical burden on caregivers.
Safety Assist Rails
Half-length and full-length side rails prevent falls during sleep, provide a grip surface for turning and repositioning, and act as a barrier for patients who may be confused or restless.
Bed Wedges and Positioning Pillows
Foam wedges and positioning pillows help maintain therapeutic positioning between nurse visits -elevating legs, supporting lateral positioning, and protecting bony prominences.
